Picacho Pass DDH West Coast IPA
ABV: 8.2%
We are bringing back Picacho Pass, our West Coast Double IPA, with some fun recipe updates. An all-pilsner malt base gets out of the way for a hop combo consisting of Citra Incognito, Simcoe, Simcoe Cryo, and Columbus. We decided to give this properly dry and bitter westie the double dry-hop treatment, with huge citrus, passionfruit, and pine notes.
PICACHO PASS
"The Battle of Picacho Pass was the westernmost battle of the American Civil War with numerous fatalities. I heard that a man named Pauline Weaver, a famous scout and prospector was with Union troops looking for Confederate forces in the area. An assayer's assistant also told me that there was a hidden mine within sight of Weaver's Needle within the mountain range east of Phoenix. I heard that Mr. Weaver had passed but if I find his family, perhaps there are clues to this hidden mine near the landmark that bears his name. It feels like a longshot but I must exhaust all possibilities. Since he was a prospector himself, there may be some clues to find my Uncle Jacob's mine."
from the journal of Hans Von Biermann
